Fraud or not?
Tegalalang Rice Terrace in Ubud, Bali is, carefully spoken, an overrated experience. Unless you are a trained photographer, lucky with the weather and lightning conditions, and arrive before the rice is harvested, there is really nothing to see at this place.
IMO, Tegalalang rice terrace is an example of how The Bali Tourist Industry makes every opportunity into a business.
Oops! Something didn't load
In less inhabited rice fields fauna appears: chameleon in rice field, Cirebon, Java.
Best suited for teenages and adults
Parts of the trail is suitable for children. Others not. There are two trails, while the longer trail involves a few relatively steep climbes and some narrow and slippery parts with the risc of tall falls.
Donations
During the tour you will be asked to donate money for «the operation and maintenance of the parks trails». It is voluntary to donate, and revenue for a day should cover maintenance costs for a year. It's just annoying when you've climbed soil slopes for thirty minutes in the hot sun, and are greeted by beggers when you reach the top, asking you to support their work on the terraces, while you wonder about what work they are talking.
Could be the perfect running trails
The rice terraces could have been marketed and used as demanding running trails. Trail that includes both climbing and balancing and the risc of falling into mud holes, and it would be awesome!
